Repeat offender arrested after Duke Street multiple vehicle crash

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, a driver crashed into multiple vehicles on Duke Street as well as on Cameron Station Boulevard, causing what one witness suspects to have been multiple totaled cars and six figures in property damage.

The Alexandria Police Department confirmed the suspect’s identity as Teodoro Velasquez-Benitez, who, according to an APD statement issued to the Times on Wednesday, was charged with six offenses on June 28: felony hit and run, destruction of an occupied vehicle, assault on law enforcement officers, obstruction of justice with force, driving under the influence – commonly known as a DUI – and driving without a valid license.

According to the Alexandria General District Court Online Database, Velasquez-Benitez was arrested the following day on Sunday, and had an arraignment on Monday.
