Suspect in deadly DC shooting seen fleeing from the seen on scooter

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police in the District are looking for a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting that left a 50-year-old man dead on Tuesday.

At around 2:05 a.m. on July 1, officers responded to the report of gunshots in the 1800 block of E Street SE. There, they found Lawrence Meekins with bullet wounds.

Man accused of assaulting person with tire iron in DC

Despite lifesaving efforts, Meekins died at the scene.

In an update on Friday, police released surveillance footage of the suspect, who was seen fleeing the area on a scooter. The video shows an individual with long dreads wearing shorts, a t-shirt and a backwards hat.
