Three people are killed and more are hurt in killings in DC over the Fourth of July weekend

During the Fourth of July weekend, Washington, D.C. saw a series of shootings that left multiple people wounded and some tragically dead. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is currently investigating these incidents but has not linked the shootings. Below is a breakdown of the reported shootings across the district.

Friday: Shooting of a 15-Year-Old Boy

On the evening of July 4, just before 8:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in the 1100 block of Half Street, Southeast. When officers arrived, they found the boy conscious and breathing. First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he received medical treatment.

MPD has released a picture of the suspected shooter and is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text MPD’s tip line at 50411.

Saturday: Fatal Shooting of Woman and Other Incidents

Shortly after 11 p.m. on July 5, officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of T Street, NE. There, they found a woman, later identified as 23-year-old Zarie Williams, who had been shot and was not breathing.

Despite efforts from DC Fire and EMS, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. A man arrived at a nearby hospital shortly after with gunshot wounds, believed to be connected to the same shooting. Police have not yet released information about the shooter in this case…
