ICE arrests surge in DC region — Most have no criminal record, data shows

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Immigration enforcement across the D.C. region are ramping up sharply — and a majority of the people being arrested have no criminal convictions, according to newly released data.

A report from the UC Berkeley Deportation Data Project shows that in early June, about 60% of ICE arrests in D.C. and Virginia involved individuals with no prior criminal records.

In Maryland, that rate was 55%, up from 49% just a month earlier…
