Woman sentenced for driving into, killing 2 Riverdale kids walking to school

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The driver of a van that struck two children walking to school, killing them, was sentenced on Thursday, more than a year and a half after the tragic incident.

The Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney said that 52-year-old Olga Lugo Jiminez was sentenced to four months after pleading guilty on April 14 to two counts of driver failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The incidenthappened on Nov. 20, 2023. That morning, authorities said Jiminez dropped some kids off at Riverdale Elementary School, and while she was leaving, she drove into 5-year-old Sky Sosa and 10-year-old Shalom Mbah.
