Washington, D.C. Man Sentenced to 19 Years for Second-Degree Murder in 2024 Fatal Shooting

Andre Clark, 34, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Leonard Taylor, Jr. in October 2024, as stated in an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. The sentencing, delivered by Superior Court Judge Todd Edelman, also included provisions for five years of supervised release following Clark’s prison term, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Details from the case reveal that on the morning of October 20, 2024, Clark emerged from a building in the 1500 block of 19th St., SE and approached Taylor, who was seated in his car, at this point, the situation escalated rapidly, Clark leaned into the sedan’s driver side and subsequently shot Taylor in the back as he attempted to flee the scene, resulting in Taylor’s death. Clark had entered a guilty plea on May 5, 2025, to one count of second-degree murder while armed.
