1 dead, 2 hurt in triple shooting on U Street; DC police investigating

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One person is dead and two others were hospitalized after a shooting broke out in Southeast D.C. Tuesday night.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) told DC News Now that the shooting happened minutes before 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, in the 1800 block of U Street, near Florida Avenue. There, responding officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officials noted that a man and a woman were both taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
