Virginia man convicted of murder after stabbing former girlfriend 78 times

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A man from Virginia was convicted Friday of murdering his former girlfriend, according to the Prince George’s County Interim State’s Attorney Tara Jackson.

Kevin Derr, 51, was convicted of first-degree murder after he stabbed his former girlfriend, 47-year-old Wendolyn McKoy, to death in April 2024.

The jury found Derr guilty on five counts, which include first-degree murder, first-degree assault, crime of violence in the presence of a minor, and unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle.
