SHREVEPORT, La. — The executive director of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, Larry Otwell, says that per capita, Shreveport’s homeless problem is worse than in Washington D.C.
Relocating homeless communities is not a new practice. It has already been done in downtown Shreveport.
“Unfortunately, we’ve been doing this for probably six to eight years,” Otwell said. “We’ve been moving people out of the city for tourism, you know, and businesses and things like that. And I understand why — it’s crime, panhandling, and all that. But if we don’t fix the problem, we’re just kind of kicking the can down the road.”…
