Police Respond to Armed Robbery at Local Check Cashing Business

On August 15 at approximately 7:32 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Check Cash Depot in the 1000 block of University Boulevard.

According to police, after completing a transaction, the victim was approached in the parking lot by two men who exited a gray Hyundai sedan. One suspect brandished a handgun and struck the victim, then took cash from his pocket before both suspects fled the scene.

Suspect Descriptions per the press release:

  • Suspect 1: Male, unknown age, brandished a handgun, struck the victim.
  • Suspect 2: Male, unknown age, assisted in taking cash.

One suspect was last seen wearing all black and the other had black pants and a gray sweatshirt. Fire/Rescue treated the victim on site for minor injuries. A lookout for the suspect vehicle was issued to surrounding jurisdictions…
