4 displaced after lithium-ion battery sparks fire at DC row house

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Four people are without a place to live after a fire ignited at a Washington, D.C. row house Monday morning.

In a post on the X platform just after 6:30 a.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department said crews were responding to a fire at a two-story row house in the 1200 block of Owen Place, NE.

At the scene, firefighters found flames coming from the home’s basement.

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze before it could extend to the home’s upper floors or any neighboring row houses. One man refused treatment, and no firefighters were injured.
