This Day in History: Martin Luther King Jr. delivers ‘I Have a Dream’ speech

WASHINGTON (WHSV) – Sixty-two years ago today on Aug. 28, 1963, about 250,000 Americans gathered at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

The demonstration, known as the March on Washington, was a peaceful, collaborative effort between civil rights groups and labor organizations, according to History.com.
