18-year-old to spend 15 years in prison for armed carjacking, robbery

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — An 18-year-old from D.C. was sentenced Friday for carjacking a taxicab driver at knifepoint nearly one year ago, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) announced.

He also robbed another person at gunpoint in a separate incident in 2022.

On Nov. 18, 2024, Demonta King approached a taxi driver who was standing near his cab in the 5000 block of Fort Totten Drive NE. Armed with a knife, the USAO said he said, “Give me everything,” and ordered the driver to hand over his keys…
