ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Fairfax County police are investigating a homicide discovered while officers were responding to a report of vehicle tampering early Friday morning.
The incident was reported around 5 a.m. in the 3400 block of Buckman Road in the Alexandria area. Officers arrived to find a man on the ground outside a vehicle suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation continues
Assistant Chief Robert Blakley said the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence and that there is some evidence to suggest it was targeted.
“We’re not prepared to classify it as a car break-in that turned wrong,” Blakley said. “We’re not quite sure, but there’s evidence of sort of some disturbance, some sort of incident that occurred within this small area of vehicles. And so, we’re in the process of gathering evidence to sort that out further.”…
