INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A 4-year-old child was flown to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, after a medical emergency on Port Tobacco Road near Bowie Road that drew a large response from fire, EMS and law enforcement.
Dispatchers received the first call shortly after 9:20 p.m., reporting a child with a fever who was foaming at the mouth and drifting in and out of consciousness. The situation quickly escalated to reports of difficulty breathing and a brief period when the child was not breathing at all.
Crews from multiple stations arrived at the Indian Head home as dispatchers guided callers through CPR instructions. Responders found the patient very lethargic but with adequate vital signs and began airway management before preparing for transport…
