The Montgomery County Department of Police is on the lookout for an individual who tried to rob a 7-Eleven on Fenton Street, Silver Spring, the evening of September 21st. In an effort to find the suspect, officials have circulated surveillance photos, inviting the community to assist in the investigation.
Here’s where events took an unsettling turn, as illustrated by the released details: after trying to buy cigars without showing ID, which the clerk refused to sell, the suspect lingered until the store emptied. Then he made his move, stepping behind the counter with the intimation of a weapon concealed in his waistband, giving the clerk a glimpse of what looked to be a handgun handle.
Although the attempted theft didn’t quite go as planned, the suspect eventually left the establishment without the merchandise.
