Waldorf man sentenced to 65 years on rape charges in Calvert

A 42-year-old Waldorf man who was served a 10-count indictment in May in connection with a series of sex crimes he allegedly committed in 2022 in Calvert County was sentenced to 65 years behind bars after entering four guilty pleas.

Daniel Joseph Bliss received his sentence Oct. 10 from Calvert Circuit Court Judge Mark Chandlee following his entering guilty pleas to three counts of second-degree rape and one count of sex abuse of a minor. In addition to probation after his release, Bliss will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
