DC police searching for suspect linked to shooting that hurt teen girl

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police in the District are asking for the community’s help in identifying a person who is accused of shooting a teenage girl while she was sitting in a vehicle.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said the shooting broke out in the 800 block of Yuma Street SE minutes before 5 p.m. on Oct. 24.

D.C. police officers noted that the girl was not the intended target. Medics took her to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives obtained a surveillance video that showed the suspect running near Yuma Street.
