WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — It’s been two weeks since five people were shot near Howard University during homecoming weekend, including 22-year-old Morgan State University student Zariyat Fowoshere.
Her family said she’s now recovering from a spinal cord injury and adjusting to a new reality, all while holding onto faith and determination to finish her senior year.

Fowoshere’s aunt, Tosin Sholebo, said she rushed to D.C. as soon as she heard what happened.
“It’s like our lives have been shaken up,” Sholebo said. “There was no yelling, no back and forth it was just a gunshot. And then she immediately knew it was some type of illegal firearm because the next shots came right after. She believes she was hit by the second or third shot.”…
