WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police in the nation’s capital are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that left a woman hospitalized and sparked an urgent search for a suspect who fled the scene in a black Mercedes.
The Metropolitan Police Department said officers from the Fourth District rushed to the 5700 block of 2nd Street NE around 1:46 p.m. on Nov. 23, after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman who had been shot but was conscious and breathing.
D.C. Fire and EMS transported her to a nearby hospital. Her current condition has not been released, and investigators have not yet provided details on a possible motive or what led to the shooting.
Police Release Suspect Description
Investigators are actively searching for a man described as:
- Black male
- Gray beard
- Medium complexion
- Heavy build
- Last seen wearing a gray hoodie
- Last seen driving a black Mercedes
Police have not released security footage or additional identifying information but say the investigation remains ongoing.
