Dozens get free turkeys, food boxes in District Heights in Thanksgiving food giveaway

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (DC News Now) — In Maryland, dozens of families got free turkeys Tuesday evening and plenty of sides for Thanksgiving. It was part of a food giveaway at a District Heights Church to show an outpouring of love and support to as many as possible.

Kathy Mckinnon from Washington, D.C., waited in a long line to get inside Second Baptist Church to get her free food, but she says it was worth it.

“Well, I think it is a blessing that they are doing this because there is a lot because there are people out there who are hurting who don’t have jobs trying to make ends meet and trying to take care of their families and help other people as well,” Mckinnon said.
