Shooting Incident on Toytown Road
The incident occurred on the 300 block of Toytown Road, according to Sheriff Jimmy Ayers, who held a press conference on Monday to provide details. Deputies who responded to the scene discovered 39-year-old Kentrel Toliver suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders provided immediate medical care, and Toliver was airlifted to UVA Health for further treatment. He is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Sheriff Ayers confirmed that Toliver had been visiting friends nearby when the encounter turned violent. βHe stopped to speak with neighbors when the suspect approached him, and the shooting ensued,β Ayers explained.
Suspect Identified as Teron Slaughter
Authorities quickly identified Teron William Slaughter, a local resident of Toytown Road, Amherst, VA, as the shooter. Slaughter fled the scene following the shooting, prompting a broad search across multiple jurisdictions.
Arrest in Washington, D.C.
After fleeing Amherst County, Slaughter traveled north and was ultimately located in Washington, D.C. He was apprehended Sunday night by the Amtrak Police Department without incident, as per the reports.
