Henry’s Sweet Retreat & Bakery at 4823 St. Elmo Avenue in downtown Bethesda, has officially closed after nine years. The closure comes as the owners prepare for retirement following an unsuccessful search for a buyer to continue the business.
The shop described itself as “a modern take on an old-world sweet shop,” offering a wide selection of cookies, cupcakes, pies, birthday cakes, ice cream, fudge, fine chocolates, popcorn, acai bowls, coffee, and candy by the pound. Known for its colorful displays and nostalgic candy assortment, Henry’s became a popular destination for families and dessert lovers in the area.
