PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A D.C. man faces up to 60 years in prison after he was convicted of killing 6-year-old Ahsan Payton during a Fourth of July block party in Temple Hills last year. His sentencing is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Rakeem Gilgeours, 34, was convicted of first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and illegal possession of a firearm back in August.
Ahsan was killed during a shoot-out at a Fourth of July celebration. Prosecutors allege Gilgeours was attending that party. Ahsan was one of three people shot during what police described as an exchange of gunfire.
