RIVERDALE PARK, Md. — A Prince George’s County pastor is being credited with helping usher a family of nine to safety after spotting smoke coming from a home across the street from his church.
Pastor Ben Slye of Christian Life Center in Riverdale Park says he was at the church Monday morning when he noticed smoke pouring from a window of a nearby house. He ran across the street to alert the family and help make sure everyone got out safely.
All nine people who live in the home, including four children — one of whom uses a wheelchair — escaped before the fire spread. Minutes later, the house was fully engulfed in flames…
