Unlicensed Contractor Charged After Huntingtown Home Project Abandoned

HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — A Fort Washington man has been charged after investigators said he accepted thousands of dollars for home improvement work he was not licensed to perform and later failed to complete the job, according to court records filed in Calvert County.

Hakim Ali Stubbs, 50, is accused of acting as a contractor without a license and failing to perform a home improvement contract at a residence in the 3300 block of Evans Road in Huntingtown. The alleged offenses occurred between April 4 and April 28, 2025, court documents show.

According to investigators with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, the case stemmed from a written complaint filed by a homeowner. Authorities said Stubbs agreed to perform home improvement work totaling $5,408.10 and received $3,769.12 in payments.
