Three Arrested In $3M Copper Theft Scheme

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that three residents of College Park, MD, have been arrested in a copper theft scheme that investigators say cost victims over $3 million.

Alexandru Constantin, 43, Cristinel Petrovici, 38 and Robert Ciucur, 39, were arrested on Dec. 18 after an eight-month investigation into copper wire thefts from multiple sites in Loudoun and other areas in the region. The investigation was assisted by the FBI, Maryland State Police, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
