Three W.Va. National Guard members extinguish dryer fire in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCHS) — Members of the West Virginia National Guard deployed in Washington, D.C., helped stop an appliance fire, federal officials said.

Three WVNG members smelled smoke while on patrol outside an apartment building, according to the U.S. Department of War.

Officials said Air Force Senior Airman Brett Fries, Army Sgt. Devin Cantwell and Army Pfc. Tyler Farley entered the building to find a dryer on the second floor had caught fire…
