WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. Council committee released a report Thursday, urging Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Metropolitan Police Department interim police chief Jeffery Carroll to rescind two orders that allow police cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
The committee’s chair, Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau, claims the current collaboration between local and federal authorities has damaged the relationship between the city and its residents.
“The most significant finding in this process is the tremendous loss of trust between residents and MPD,” said Nadeau. “I hope that with this report we can set the department in motion to repair that breach.”…
