Baby Girl Delivered on Highway, Twin Born Minutes Later at Hospital

A memorable start to Friday unfolded on Interstate 270 in Rockville when first responders helped welcome a baby girl into the world on the Falls Road exit ramp.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), crews were dispatched around 7am after receiving a report of a birth in progress. Responders found a vehicle stopped with hazard lights on and met with the father, who told them his wife was actively giving birth inside the car. Fire and EMS personnel assisted with the delivery, and a baby girl was born at the scene at approximately 7:13 a.m.

The newborn and her mother were then transported to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center for further evaluation. Hospital officials later shared even more exciting news. At 7:52am, the family welcomed a second baby girl at the hospital, making the roadside delivery the first of two births that morning…
