Big change coming to airport security next month

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Air travelers who show up to airport security without a REAL ID or another accepted form of identification will soon face a new option, and a new cost, under a program rolling out nationwide next month.

Beginning Feb. 1, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will launch TSA ConfirmID, a $45 identity-verification alternative for passengers who arrive at checkpoints without the required documents, the agency announced Thursday.
