Massive water main break in Bethesda snarls traffic on Rockville Pike

A large water main break near Rockville Pike and Cedar Lane in Bethesda is spewing water across several lanes of the roads, resulting in major traffic delays during the Wednesday evening rush hour, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials and traffic alerts.

The break in an 8-inch water main occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Acacia Avenue, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said Wednesday in a social media post.
