VIDEO: Man who killed AU professor wheeled on gurney after health emergency during sentencing

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — On the day he was to be sentenced, the man, who murdered an American University professor, had his hearing postponed after suffering a medical emergency that caused him to be taken into an ambulance.

Jorge Rueda Landeros was convicted of second-degree murder after killing accounting professor Sue Ann Marcum before staging the scene to look like a burglary. Before her death, Rueda Landeros exploited the 52-year-old woman, crippling her financially after manipulating her into a joint investment account, which he ran.

Initially, her Spanish and yoga instructor, Rueda Landeros, later became personally and financially involved with Marcum, convincing her to take out a $500,000 life insurance policy as he continued to deplete her finances.

A dual citizen of Mexico and the U.S., Rueda Landeros would go back and forth between the countries, and was confirmed to have reentered the United States four days before Marcum was found dead…
