WALDORF, Md. — A Silver Spring man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he stole a heavy-duty work truck in Waldorf and led law enforcement on an 18-mile pursuit through Charles and St. Mary’s counties, endangering motorists before being taken into custody.
Bereket Eshetu Beyene, 27, of Silver Spring, was arrested Feb. 5, 2026, following a multi-jurisdictional chase involving the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Charging documents state deputies were alerted shortly after 8 p.m. to the theft of a 2015 Kenworth T680 heavy-duty truck. The vehicle had been parked on St. Nicholas Drive near the BJ’s Warehouse in Waldorf while being serviced.
