DC police officer not facing charges after shooting, killing man in 2025

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. police officer is not facing charges after shooting and killing a person in Northeast D.C. during a foot chase last year.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. announced on Friday that there was insufficient evidence to charge Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer Epshane Porter in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man on Nov. 17, 2025.

The incident happened along 1221 47th Place while Porter was patrolling the area with another officer. There, they came across a group of men standing outside  4725 Minnesota Ave. When the group saw the officers, two men began running away in separate directions.
