MCPD’s 3rd District Community Action Team seized a loaded handgun and multiple illegal drugs during a traffic stop Thursday night in downtown Silver Spring, according to District Commander Jason Cokinos.
The stop occurred around 8pm on 2/20/26 near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Spring Street. Police say a handgun was observed near the driver during the stop, and the individual was safely removed from the vehicle.
A subsequent search reportedly uncovered a loaded handgun, marijuana along with a scale, approximately 50 fentanyl pills, about 34 MDMA pills, and more than a dozen oxycodone pills. Investigators believe the drugs were possessed with the intent to distribute…
