17-year-old charged as adult for robbing delivery drivers in DC 8 times at gunpoint

WASHINGTON — A 17-year-old was one of three people who might be looking at more than a century in prison for allegedly robbing D.C. delivery drivers at gunpoint last summer and robbing their motorized scooters, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said, releasing details about DC Police’s investigation into the suspects on Thursday.

Andrew Whitfield, a 17-year-old from D.C., was named in the indictment and charged as an adult, where he was accused of carrying out eight different armed carjackings. A close ally of President Donald Trump, Pirro has made charging teens as adults one of her signature issues since swearing in as US Attorney.

“The indictment returned today on a 17-year-old and his co-conspirators for robbing delivery drivers at gunpoint sends a clear message that if you commit a crime in D.C., you will be held accountable, regardless of age,” Pirro said on Thursday…
