Snow Chances Fade, Light Icing Possible Monday Night For Maryland and Northern Virginia

After some back-and-forth in the forecast, the latest outlook suggests the more significant impacts from a potential early-week winter system may largely miss the region.

Forecast models now show the first wave of the system passing to the south and west, with little to no impact locally. Monday is expected to remain cloudy and cold, with no snow anticipated during the day. A second, weaker wave may move through Monday night, bringing the possibility of light freezing drizzle rather than accumulating snow.

NBC4 chief meteorologist Doug Kammerer said confidence in meaningful winter weather has dropped considerably over the past 24 hours. “I’ve been watching the Monday to Tuesday timeframe for a while now.
