Sen. Warner weighs in on immigration enforcement following Fairfax County murder

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — U.S. Sen. Mark Warner addressed questions about immigration enforcement in Virginia following a recent case involving an undocumented immigrant accused of killing a woman.

The discussion comes after Gov. Abigail Spanberger issued a directive requiring state law enforcement agencies to end certain cooperation agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to only assist in immigration enforcement when a valid judicial warrant is presented.

During an interview with ABC13, Warner was asked about the balance between public safety and immigration policy after reports that an undocumented immigrant with a lengthy criminal history was repeatedly released before allegedly stabbing and killing a woman.

“In cases like this, where is the line, and should Virginia cooperate with ICE more freely in order to protect Americans?” ABC 13’s Jaida Simone asked Senator Mark Warner.
