A Farmer’s & Flea Market takes place most Saturdays at a parking lot near RFK Stadium in the Hill East neighborhood in DC. The flea market sits in the shadow of the recent decision of the DC government to build a new stadium on the old RFK stadium grounds.
Because of this decision, the fate of the market is not clear. When I visited the market in January, Ms. T, an organizer of the market who lives nearby, said that no news was forthcoming from authorities. Between conversations with other vendors, she expressed the hope that construction wouldn’t “disrupt the market”, describing it as a community resource (as both merchandise and food are available).
