I’m writing to let everyone know that the Feds are now policing our local parks as well. Last night, a parent was detained by 10 federal agents at Petworth Rec Center for having an open container. They had no jurisdiction to arrest him
(the park is city land, not federal), so they held him until MPD arrived. All of this in front of his child and all the other children at the playground. The parent wasn’t bothering anyone, and since when is an open container cause for arrest and not just a fine? Luckily a neighbor saw everything go down and walked his child home to their other parent. Be safe everyone, and take care of each other.“…
