Man shot, killed after dragging officer during traffic stop in Prince George’s County: Police

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A man is dead after he was shot by a Prince George’s County lieutenant after a traffic stop escalated on Thursday night, according to police.

During a press conference, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) Chief George Nader said that shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers pulled over a car in the 23rd Avenue and Ager Road area in Chillum.

During the stop, the lieutenant “developed probable cause” and began searching the vehicle while the suspect was with another officer on the scene, according to Nader.

However, as the search continued, the suspect evaded the second officer and got into the car. Nader said the suspect then drove off, knocking down the second officer, while the lieutenant was partially hanging out of the car…
