HYATTSVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — The Hyattsville City Police Department (HPD) released a statement Monday, folllowing the conviction of one of its former officers who was accused of rape.
Jonathan Monge, a former corporal, faced charges of second-degree rape (2 counts) and sexual abuse of a minor, on all of which he was convicted.
HPD said that it recognized the “seriousness of these crimes and the significant harm” they caused.

“Conduct of this nature is deeply troubling and inconsistent with the values and standards expected of anyone associated with this department and damages the trust our community places in us. Jonathan Monge is no longer employed by the Hyattsville Police Department,” the statement noted, adding that Monge had been suspended without pay since he was indicted in November 2025…
