ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A former Alexandria Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into a detention center on Saturday.
According to the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office (ASO), former Deputy Sheriff Amarachukwu W. Igwe had been with ASO since July 14, 2025, but was fired after her arrest.
Deputies alleged that Igwe attempted to smuggle drugs into the Alexandria Adult Detention Center. An investigation by ASO’s Investigations, Professionalism & Oversight Section ended with Igwe in custody before any narcotics were delivered…
