City to hold neighborhood meeting on Hooff’s Run culvert repairs and park improvements

The City of Alexandria will host a neighborhood meeting Thursday, April 16, to update residents on upcoming maintenance work along Hooff’s Run and planned improvements to a nearby park — work that will require closing the park and its tennis courts for up to six months.

The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. at the park located between the intersections of East Oak Street and East Walnut Street with Commonwealth Avenue.

The project, the second phase of the Hooff’s Run Culvert Maintenance effort, calls for replacing the top section of the culvert running beneath the park after structural issues were identified during recent inspections. The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities will also make improvements to the park and tennis courts once the culvert work is complete…
