‘Five minutes earlier, I would have been here’ | Homeowner recounts moments he saw a sanitation truck in the side of his Fairfax County home

LORTON, Va. — A sanitation truck driver crashed into a home in Lorton, Virginia Tuesday morning, leaving significant damage and a community shaken up.

The driver apparently told investigators that he was coming down the hill along Henry Knox Drive, when he lost control of his brakes. When he tried to turn on to Graysons Mill Lane, he slammed into the home on the corner. Luckily no one was home by some miracle.

“Five minutes earlier I would have been here,” the homeowner told WUSA9. “I was on my way back to the house. This is what I saw when I turned the corner.”…
