‘We were promised this pot of gold’ | Ward 7 neighbors pushback against plan to not build a new Metro station at DC’s RFK site

WASHINGTON — Residents in DC’s Kingman Park neighborhood are pushing back against a recently released plan not to build a Metro station at the RFK campus, which would meet the needs of the Commanders’ new stadium.

A study released this week by Metro says that a new station would be too expensive, would not improve service, and would not even be ready for the stadium’s 2030 opening day. The entire project would exceed $1 billion, according to the study.

“It’s not a billion dollars for a station. It’s a billion dollars to change our track alignment, our structure, everything around this to even allow a station to happen,” Metro’s General Manager and CEO Randy Clarke explained Thursday during a board meeting…
