Snow removal truck drivers who worked 24-hour shifts during January storm may not be paid for all hours worked

WASHINGTON — In a stunning reversal, the DC Government told WUSA9 Thursday it will not pay the millions of dollars in disputed snow removal bills it said just one day earlier it would cover. Leaving more than 100 small trucking companies that worked around the clock during January’s historic storm still waiting for full payment nearly four months later.

Wednesday, a DC Department of Public Works spokesperson told WUSA9 in writing: “The District is paying District Logistics the remaining $11.4 million balance.” WUSA9 reported that statement on broadcast and online.

Thursday, a spokesperson from Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office called to say that the statement was made in error. The city will not pay that money…
