Soapbox race returning to Nazareth. More than 2 dozen teams competing in charity event.

Gravity-powered racing cars will barrel down West Prospect Street in Nazareth on Saturday, June 6, when the Nazareth Adult Soapbox Racing Association hosts its ninth annual competition to raise money for the Lehigh Conference of Churches.

More than two dozen teams will race their custom-designed soapbox cars down the hill starting at noon, competing for trophies and bragging rights while supporting efforts to prevent homelessness throughout the Lehigh Valley.

The event invites spectators to arrive early for practice runs beginning at 9 a.m. Those who attend can bring their own chairs to line the course, vote for their favorite car, enter raffle drawings and purchase food and beverages…
