Iconic Lehigh Valley drive-in movie theater celebrates 80 years

LEHIGH TWP., Pa. — For 80 years, generations of families have pulled into Becky’s Drive-In to create memories under the stars. On Saturday, the iconic Lehigh Valley landmark celebrated its past while looking toward the future.

Located in Lehigh Township, Becky’s Drive-In first opened in 1946. Founded by William D. “Becky” Beck and his wife, Alice, the family-owned business has remained in the same location for eight decades. The very first movie shown at the drive-in was “Utah.”

“I think it’s a memorial to my parents because they did whatever they could to keep it running,” said Mary Mayberry, daughter of the founders. “We’ve done our part to keep it going.”…
